Letter rules show their source and status. Only rules backed by a cited source and reviewed by a named person can be marked Verified; today that is only the Unicode joining rules.

• Historically sourced rules: cited with page or folio, still awaiting review.
• Illustrative practice models: original drafts drawn for practice, not a master's model.
• Designs use open-licence fonts; they are never presented as hand calligraphy.

Ownership vs. history

• App: designed and developed by Mohamed Abdelsalam.
• Historical calligraphers: Ibn Muqla, Ibn al-Bawwāb, Yāqūt al-Mustaʿṣimī — credited only with what cited sources say; no affiliation with this app.
• Avatars: original designs made for Qalam Studio, inspired by traditions — not historical works.
• Manuscripts: linked to the holding library, never copied into the app.
